This investigation aims to estimate PMF and analyze its uncertainty on Qomroud river basin with respect to flood controlling importance in the region. Hence, for PMF estimation two general approaches are considered as follows: 1) By using statistics and correlation functions between maximum precipitation and maximum inflow values in different return periods, the PMFs corresponding to each PMP are estimated. In the statistical method, by linear regression for PMP and maximum inflow values, the PMF is estimated about 485.5 m3 /s. 2) The PMFs are estimated throughapplication of hydrologic simulation method and rainfall-runoff model by HEC-1.The uncertainty analysis of obtained results from the second approach has been processed by considering available uncertainties in the modeling and input datasets. For this purpose, amplitude and spectrum of uncertainty changes of PMF hydrograph corresponding to the range of changes and various compounds in critical time of PMP occurrence have been defined using uncertainty analysis of derived results through Monte-Carlo flood simulation model. The results indicated the PMF values on the study area will be in a range from 432 to 536 m3/s. 2228-504013983820200822Analyzing effect of different statistical downscaling methods on the predicted streamflow in Karaj dam basin under climate change effectبررسی تأثیر روشهای مختلف ریزمقیاسسازی آماری بر تغییرات جریان پیشبینیشده بر اثر تغییراقلیم در حوضهی سد کرج1731113314FAوحید کیمیاگردانشجوی دکترای مهندسی عمران-آب، دانشکده عمران، آب و محیطزیست، دانشگاه شهید بهشتی0000-0002-8943-9161ابراهیم فتاحیدانشیار، پژوهشکده هواشناسی، تهرانسعید علیمحمدیدانشیار، دانشکده عمران، آب و محیطزیست، دانشگاه شهید بهشتیJournal Article20200827Introduction
Climate model information usually is in large scales (> 100 km). It is often necessary to use downscaling methods to use this information. Downscaling can be defined as methods which interpret climate information in regional or local scale (10-100 km) from the large grid (>100km) GCMs (Fung et al. 2011). Two main methods of downscaling are dynamical and statistical downscaling. Statistical downscaling methods are less compute-intensive tasks which involve implementing local scale variables as a function of global climate model outputs (Chen et al. 2013). This paper predicts inflow into the Karaj dam reservoir using results of a Global climate model in different climate scenarios and downscaling methods (a total of 32 different runs).
Material and methods
Climate model and scenarios
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) introduced four different greenhouse gas concentration (not emissions) trajectories (representative concentration pathways RCP) based on the amount of radiative forcing values at the end of the year 2100 namely RCP 2.6, RCP 4.5, RCP 6.0 and RCP 8.5 which all have been used in this study alongside CSIRO MK 3.6.0 Global Climate model (GCM).
Statistical downscaling methods
Based on choosing the predictors, observed data or historical GCMs simulation, downscaling methods (DSM) can be divided into two major groups namely Bias Correction (BC) and Change Factor (CF) (Ho, Stephenson et al. 2012, Wang, Ranasinghe et al. 2016). In BC based methods, it is assumed that the change between GCM data and observed data remain constant in time and the CF-based method, it is presumed that change in observed climate variable is same as changes in climate model data, and precipitation occurrence probability will remain constant. For a better estimation of future climate conditions and understand the effect of selecting different downscaling methods two different BC methods and two different CF methods have been explained and used in the study.
Karaj dam watershed is located in the central part of Northern Iran in Tehran province between 51.05 and 51.60 degrees North and 35.88 and 36.18 East. It is one of the main supplies of urban and agricultural water demand of Tehran. The area of the watershed is about 846.5 km2 and its average height is about 2826 MASL. Twelve (12) weather stations which had data with proper length were selected over the region. Spatial downscaling was used by averaging 4 grid points near the station. The inflow was predicted for a future period (2013-2045) and compared with both observed and modeled data in the base period (1985-2012). Future temperature and precipitation in different DSM-RCPs have been plotted. Average monthly hydrograph and probability density functions of annual streamflow were compared. Runoff-precipitation simulation has been conducted using IHACRES software.
Results
The overall trend of temperature in different downscaling methods is rising and the uncertainty related to choosing DSM is more than choosing climate scenario. The range of changing temperature is wider in the CF method and choosing the overall DSM method (BC or CF) is more important than choosing sub-method (MB or VB). Unlike temperature precipitation changes in not similar in different scenarios and DSMs. Although in some scenarios precipitation increases, in others decreases. Despite small differences, it seems that the overall trend of streamflow in the CSIRO model is decreasing. Streamflow in April decreased significantly. The range of streamflow in the future is wider than historical observation and uncertainty especially in extreme events is higher. RCP 8.5 has the greatest streamflow range in the future which shows less reliability in predictions.
Discussions
For better performance of infrastructures in the future, climate changes and their effect on streamflow should be predicted. This paper investigated the effect of choosing different statistical downscaling methods and climate scenarios (RCP) on the future streamflow in the Karaj dam basin, Tehran, Iran.
There are changes in flow pattern and in most scenarios, two peaks in April and May are recorded.
Least annual average flow is for RCP 6.0 and the greatest annual average flow is for RCP 2.8. The study showed that for better understanding and prediction of future condition, different downscaling methods should be considered as well as different climate scenarios. Choosing whether the BC or CF method has more effect than MB or VB selection. The paper used different scenarios and methods to predict future streamflow. Probabilistic approach showed the importance of considering uncertainty in streamflow prediction and the possible range of future changes which may be used in defining the reservoir operating rule.
The effective factors in formation of atmospheric elements in local and regional scales usually have been trimming and smoothing roles. The identification of wind formation patterns in Uremia lake basin is an important issue for many management and regional planning affairs. In this context: Steven et al. (1992), Neil et al (2003), Zawarreza (2004), Luhar& Hurley (2004) and Kardane et al (2009) can be referred. Various studies have been done related to Urmia basin in generally, but there isn't almost any research about the formation mechanism of regional winds and the effect of local factor on it. In the study we tend to investigate the mechanism of local wind formation in Urmia basin using mesoscale climatic models.
Materials and Methods
Urmia Lake is a salt lake in the northwestern of Iran. The lake is between the provinces of and West Azerbaijan in Iran, and the southwest of the portion of Caspian Sea. At its full size, it is the largest lake in the Middle East and the sixth largest saltwater lake on earth with a surface area of approximately 5,200 km² (2,000 mile²), 140 km (87 mi) length, 55 km (34 mi) width, and 16 m (52 ft.) depth it is located in high of 1275 meters above sea level
Firstly, the data of daily wind of Stations around Lake Urmia has processed in Excel and then the hourly Wind Rose is designed for them. Then using network reanalysis databases of NCEP/NCAR for recognize and analysis atmospheric pressure systems and air masses interring to the basin of Lake Urmia were done. So have been selected 21 typical samples for warm season and 18 typical samples for cool season. The synoptic analysis for selected typical samples were done and finally using the air pollution model (TAPM) as a mesoscale atmospheric model for analyzing these samples.
Results and Discussion
The selected samples presented in table 4. Also using climatic model for analyzing of atmospheric situation in the days which the local factors are dominance. Finally using synoptic and statistical methods to analysis the results.
14 February. 2003: In this day the statistical investigation of wind data in particular speed and direction of wind indicated that the local factors are main component which control the winds characteristics. The atmospheric barotropic condition and regular fluctuations in daily temperature is the main signal of this local factors dominance. The slope of isobars in our study region is very small.
28 July 2006: The wind situation of the stations which located around the Urmia Lake is homogeny so that 4 meteorological station namely, Tabriz, Khoy, Urmia and Maraghe have strong Morning wind. The high pressure from the north can be seen in the area in this day which cause increase the slope of isobars in this region. Mountainous chain directions and topographic situation play an important role in the patterns of wind blowing.
1August 2003: The condition of wind blowing in surrounding stations of Urmia Lake are not homogeny in this day. Two stations from three investigated stations with names Tabriz and Urmia, have strong morning wind from north and east while Maraghe station has southeastern weak wind and Mahabad and Khoy stations have calm air conditions.
8 October 2006: In this day according the table 6 the condition of wind blowing in surrounding station of Urmia Lake is not homogeny. Two stations form 5 investigated weather stations namely Tabriz and Urmia, have strong morning wind from north and two stations of them namely Maraghe and Khoy weather stations are calm air in morning and in midday have southeastern direction winds. And in Mahabad weather station calm air condition was recorded. This heterogenic condition indicated the influent of local factors.
Conclusion
In this paper we intend to detect the effects of local factors in formation of local and regional winds in Urmia Lake basin. For this propose have been investigated four typical days that the local winds were observed. Our funding indicated that in all four typical samples days the weak trough that associated westerly is dominance in our study region due to it the low speed wind entering to our study region. Also using TAPM and its numerical and graphical outputs show the topographical condition in our study region can affect the direction of these entrance winds. Also we observed the north south channeled wind in our study region and formation of divergence core according to direction of topography is very attractive. The lake ward slopes of mountain and the height difference between Lake Surface and mountains is very important in formation of local winds. 2228-504013983820200822Comparative comparisons of precipitation obtained from TRMM, GPM and Doppler radars with ground station data (Case Study of Surface Wave from October 26 to 28, 2015 in Western Iran)مقایسه تطبیقی بارش بدست آمده از ماهوارههای TRMM،GPM و رادار داپلر با دادههای ایستگاههای زمینی (مطالعه موردی بارش فراگیر 26 تا 28 اکتبر 2015 در غرب ایران)4961113319FAهاشم رستم زادهدانشجوی دکتری آب و هواشناسی ماهواره ای دانشگاه تبریزعلی اکبر رسولیاستاد گروه آب و هواشناسی دانشگاه تبریزمجید وظیفه دوستاستادیار گروه مهندسی آب دانشگاه گیلانناصر ملکیرئیس پژوهشکده هواشناسی آب ایلام / سازمان هواشناسی کشورJournal Article20200827Introduction:
Precipitation is considered to be the most important phenomenon because the precipitation process is associated with atmospheric synoptic systems, energy interactions between the Earth's surface and the oceans. Today, various methods are used to predict the phenomenon of precipitation. The traditional method or synoptic analysis is the most basic of the predictive methods Subsequently, with the expansion of atmospheric models, rainfall prediction numerical methods were used which due to the general and spatial extent, errors are sometimes found in their estimation. Meteorological radars were used to increase the precision of accuracy These radars were used to calculate cloudy precipitation water. The advantage of using rainfall sensing methods is to better understand the phenomenon of rainfall and its effective parameters in a wide spatial range. For this reason, researchers are now investigating the rainfall estimation using satellite imagery. This research was carried out to evaluate the data of TRMM satellite, GPM satellite and radar data of Kermanshah and compare the data recorded in the stations in the heavy rain November 2012 in the western part of the country and to verify the accuracy of estimated precipitation of the data The satellite is done.
area of study:
The area of study area is 89505 km2, which is about 5/5% of the total area of Iran. This region is located in western Iran, in the range of 45 degrees and 24 minutes to 49 degrees and 36 minutes east, and 31 degrees 58 minutes to 36 degrees and 30 minutes north. From northwest to western province of Azarbaijan, south of Khuzestan Province and east to Lorestan and Central provinces and west to Iraq. The study area is located in the western slopes of Zagros.
materials and methods:
The data sets used in this research are:
1- Doppler Meteorological Radar Information:
Iran's Meteorological Organization is developing a Doppler Meteorological Radar Matrix across Iran with the highest concentration of radars in the provinces of western, north and south of Iran. The data used in this study was collected using Kermanshah radar, one of three western weather radars of Iran.
2- Weather station info:
In this research, ten weather stations located in four provinces of Kermanshah, Ilam, Kordestan and Hamedan were used.
3- GPM Satellite Information:
The satellite's information is available on a daily basis and every two hours. Through NASA, data on wave activity days was extracted.
4-TRMM Satellite Information:
The satellite is available every day and every three hours. Through the GIOVANNI site, information about the days of wave activity was extracted.
Discussion:
There is a very good correlation between satellite-radar data and ground stations.
The Pearson correlation coefficient between the mean and maximum rainfall data of the Kermanshah meteorological radar with its corresponding data on GPM and TRMM satellites is equal to 0.813 and 0.888 for GPM 0.821 and 0.873 ** for TRMM And statistically significant at 1% level.
In general, it can be concluded that Kermanshah weather forecast radar data have a good correlation with satellite precipitation data in determining rainfall rainfall and location of rainfall. It was also discovered that the Kermanshah meteorological radar, between 225 and 360 degrees, around its antenna, in the position of the Ilam and Kermanshah provinces, And also between the angles of 90 to 135 degrees, the west of the Kurdistan province of Iran and parts of Iraq.
Discussion and Conclusion:
Rainfall as an input element is often considered climatic, atmospheric and hydrological. If you need to study macros, access to a large and homogeneous database is essential.
For this purpose, satellite data can be used as a relatively desirable source. In the present study, accuracy of precipitation data of GPM, TRMM and Droppler radar of Kermanshah was evaluated with ground station data. The determination coefficients at a significant level of 5% indicate that the equations between rainfall data recorded in the regional stations, satellite and radar are meaningful, so that the determination coefficient between the GPM satellite data and the Doppler radar and the radar with the TRMM satellite The stations of the region with GPM and TRMM satellites were 0.75, 0.73, 0.59 and 0.58, respectively. The above correlations indicate that satellite precipitation data is a linear regression between observed values and correctional satellite values and is applicable to meteorological and hydrologic studies. In general, the results of this research show that satellite data after applying the coefficient and simple corrections are well-considered and can be used in different fields.
2228-504013983820200822Evaluation of Grid reanalysis products of the European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF datasets) in Different Climatic Regions of Iranارزیابی تولیدات شبکهای تحلیل مجدد پایگاه اروپایی پیش بینی های میان مدت جوی ECMWF در مناطق اقلیمی مختلف ایران6376113320FAاعظم عربی یزدیگروه مهندسی آب-دانشکده کشاورزی- دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد-ایرانحسین ثنایی نژاداستاد گروه علوم و مهندسی آب- دانشکده کشاورزی- دانشگاه فردوسی مشهدعباس مفیدیاستادیار، گروه جغرافیا- دانشگاه فردوسی مشهد0000-0002-5050-0033Journal Article20200827Introduction: The lack/inadequacy of climate observational data in different regions can lead to lack of awareness in different climates and low management power in the fields of meteorology, hydrology and agriculture. Today, the development of centers for forecasting and modeling of climatic data has provided access to almost real-time data. Reanalysis data is used in conjunction with static data, or in non-data locations, for instances, The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). The results of MCEVOY et al. (2014) studies on evaluation of 4 network databases with observations showed that the type of climate variable and the spatial resolution of network data has an impact on the results of statistical comparisons. Another Study have shown that ERA-Interim data has a very high accuracy in predicting rainfall in many parts of Iran and its error rate is low and can be neglected in over 70% of the stations studied. The result of the temporal-spatial accuracy of the rainfall data base of the ECMWF on Iran showed that not only the time synchronization but also the amount of similarity was very similar between the estimated values of the ECMWF data base and observed rainfall (Darand & Karimi, 2015). Regarding the advantage of using grid data and examining the possibility of using them, this study evaluates the accuracy of the ECMWF (ERA-Interim) reanalysis data on rainfall estimation and temperature variables in regions with diverse climates in Iran.
Materials and Methods:
2.1. Study area
Five areas of climate diversity (Rasht, Mashhad, Birjand, Bushehr, Kermanshah) are considered in the country. These are located in North, North-East, East, South and west East exponents of Iran.
2.2. Data
Daily reanalysis data from precipitation, average temperature, maximum and minimum temperature and dew point temperature from the ERA-Interim database with synoptic stations data at corresponding geographic locations for the statistical years 2015 to 2017 and with The spatial resolution of 0.5 * 0.5 degrees were used. In order to compare, the correlation coefficients (R2), RMSE and NRMSE, the mean bias error (MBE), Nash–Sutcliffe model efficiency coefficient (N_S) and residual coefficient (CRM) were used.
Results and Discussion: The cumulative rainfall in the corresponding coordinates of each station from the ERA-interim model shows a similar trend with the measured data and shows good rainfall fluctuations. Checking the linear regression models fitted between the studied variables (observational and predictive values of the ERA-interim model) indicates that these models are meaningful. The range of R2 for the maximum daily temperature and average temperature variables is above 90%. On average, the lowest and highest standard errors are estimated for precipitation in Birjand and Rasht stations, respectively. In addition, the best result of correlation of Tdew was found in Mashhad station and over/under estimation was shown in Birjand and Rasht respectively. It seems that model has less error for estimating average temperature and maximum temperature. The RMSE range of precipitation is at the selected stations (1.3-7.25) mm. NRMSE with the observed distance indicates that model accuracy is high in predicting rainfall values at all stations, and the error rate varies from 5 to 10%. The range of N-S efficiency at stations and various variables is between -0.3 and -0.9. The distribution of points around the line 1:1 for variables indicates a good relationship between observational data and the ERA-interim model. Pearson correlation coefficients vary from 0.7 to 0.99 and indicate a strong positive linear relationship between observational values and the ERA-interim model in various variables. The slope of the regression equation is between 0.95 and 1.05, which indicates a good relationship between the two data and the high ability of the model. High values of r coefficient show a strong correlation between two time series of data. Regarding the spatial distribution of selected stations, there is a high correlation between the daily time series and observational values and model predictions in all variables that have been investigated by Karimi (1394), Ratii and Sotoudeh (1396), and Sharifi et al 2016) and MCEVOY et al (2014).
Conclusion: In general, the model has been able to simulate the process of time variation of different variables at selected stations, and the accuracy of the model is acceptable. According to the results of this research, the data of this model can be used along with the station data. This study highlights the importance of conducting spatial analysis of observations and potential measurement errors in order to obtain an understanding of the potential deviations of network data before being used in hydro-climatic applications.
2228-504013983820200822Using the AHP method in site selecting of the Road Meteorological Stations for the main roads of Khorasan Razavi provinceبکارگیری روش AHP در جانمائی ایستگاه هواشناسی جاده ای در محورهای ارتباطی استان خراسان رضوی93111113324FAسینا صمدیمدیر گروه پژوهشی اقلیم شناسی بلایای جوی، پژوهشکده اقلیم شناسیمجید حبیبی نوخنداندانشیار، پژوهشکده اقلیم شناسیاحسان فرشته پورکارشناسی ارشد، سازمان مسکن و شهرسازی خراسان رضویشراره ملبوسیعضو گروه پژوهشی اقلیم شناسی بلایای جوی، پژوهشکده اقلیم شناسیدانا علیزادهپژوهشکده اقلیم شناسیJournal Article20200827Today, road traffic management is highly dependent on accurate and up-to-date road weather data, so the accuracy of more data that is taken from the stations, will be increase the accuracy of the decisions. In this research, evapotranspiration process of the reference crop was investigated by Penman-Monteith method for Razavi Khorasan province. Razavi Khorasan Province is located in north east of Iran. The province, with an area of about 118,000 square kilometers, is the fourth largest province in the country and one of the most important agricultural parts, and it is evident that the proper estimation of evaporation and prediction of its trend for water resource planning and management is of particular importance. In this research, Tissen polygon method has been used to estimate the evapotranspiration of the reference crop in Khorasan Razavi province. In addition, the trend of changes in important climate parameters affecting evapotranspiration including temperature, relative humidity, wind and sunny hours in synoptic stations of Khorasan Razavi province have been investigated in annual, seasonal and monthly time series. For this purpose, the 30 year statistics of ten synoptic stations of Khorasan Razavi province were used during the period of 1988 to 2017.
After collecting data, Their accuracy were controlled. After verification of the accuracy of the data and their completeness during the selection period, which was carried out using accepted scientific methods, the calculated potential evapotranspiration of the reference crop has been calculated. Since the data are abnormal, in order to investigate the trend, the Mann-Kendall test was used at a significant level of 5%. The slope estimator was used to determine the trend slope. The results show that the annual ETo data of all stations in the province have a positive amount of ZMK and is significant in the seven stations located in the north and the center of this province. Also, all stations have an upward slope. The highest slope is for the Sabzevar station, which has grown by an average of 18 mm ETo per year in the last 30 years. In winter, ETo all stations in the province have a meaningful positive trend. Also, ZMK is positive in the spring and autumn season for all stations. Meaningful process is observed in seven and five stations for spring and autumn accordingly. The summer season is only negative at the ZMK Torbat Jam Station, and This downward trend is meaningless. An ETo survey of 10 stations per month shows that in 94% of cases there is an increasing trend for ETo, of which 65% of cases are significant. In only 6% of cases, the The ETo without a meaningful trend is decreasing. Neyshabour and Sabzevar, in all months of the year, Mashhad in 11 months and Golmakan and Torbat Heidariye in 10 months of the year show a meaningful trend. The highest monthly Sen’s slope in total was related to Sabzevar and the lowest incremental Sen’s slope in Torbat Jam. In examining the parameters affecting ETo, it is observed that the minimum and maximum monthly temperatures in the 83% of cases are increasing, which is significant in 46% of the time. The temperature of Mashhad has increased more than other cities. The wind speed, which has a direct effect on the increase of ETo, is rising in 97% of cases, and 63% of them have a significant trend. Sunny hours are also rising for 66 percent of the time, but only 13 percent are significant. But relative humidity, which has an inverse relationship with ETo, is 71% lower, and 18% of it has a significant negative trend. The monthly ETo process in Khorasan Razavi province has been calculated using the weighted average and Arc Gis software, and the results indicate that all months of the year have a positive ZMK and, except for November, every 11 months of this trend is Meaningful. The annual and seasonal ETo of the province also has a significant trend. Also, in the statistical period of 30 years, an average of 8.8 mm per year was increased by ETo level in the province. The results of this study indicate the trend in potential evapotranspiration in Khorasan Razavi province. Considering that this parameter has a direct impact on the water needs of agricultural products and water supply, it is necessary to consider these changes in climate predictions for large-scale water management and agricultural management in the province.
